Fun with Cricket 2024

Cricket is the second most popular sports in the world with a fan base of 2.5 billion, only second to soccer. The history of cricket can be traced all the way back to the Anglo-Saxon times in Weald, in south-east England and the adult version referred to in 1611. In 1744, the first Laws of Cricket were written that governs the modern version of the game.

Cricket was introduced in North America by the British in the 17th Century and the first private country club in the US, Philadelphia Cricket Club, dedicated to cricket, was established in 1854. George Washington was a strong supporter of cricket and his troops played the game at Valley Forge during the Revolutionary War. The first ever International cricket game was played between USA and Canada in 1844.

A New Era in USA Cricket has started with US hosting the T20 cricket tournament for the first time in 2024 and qualified to the Super 8 round with a spectacular performance. The cricket fever is now on with the Major League Cricket (MLC) on it was to season 2 with international players traveling to the US.

Come join us for an introduction to cricket and just enjoy the sport and learn about basic rules of the game. Enjoy with your family in your backyard and talk to experienced coaches and players. This is the first time such a program is offered at the Millennium Park.
